Numberless Lands

There are many lands

That belong to us–

Milliards to the East

Milliards to the West.

To the North are countless

And so to the South.

These lands are pure

And in them

Boundless elation is sure

They’re in all the cardinal points

Of our very being.

In these pure lands

Are dazzling beaches

With clear white sand.

There are rivers that throb

That our sights they rob.

There are beautiful swimming swans.

There are gardens of blossoms

With days lit by golden sunshine.

I will learn to count these lands

To know their exact numbers

So that I don’t forget and despair

And instead

Keep trudging on wearily.

More From The Author

This poem captures the vitality of holding on to our dearest hopes and aspirations. Since all we hope for isn't guaranteed, we can as well balance that uncertainty with hope. I have selected some works of poetry and prose relating to this theme and can be downloaded through this link.
